Measuring for your new blinds is really simple and straightforward, just see the guides below. We recommend that you use a metal tape measure for accuracy (cloth ones tend to stretch) and have a pencil and pad handy.
Remember that the only real difference between a recess and an exact fitting is that if you specify recess fitting we will make adjustments to the sizes to ensure a perfect fit.
First ensure that the recess your blind is going into is not obstructed in any way so the blind can hang freely when fully extended. Look out for protruding window handles and tiles.
Measure the width from A to B and the drop from C to D (see diagram to the right).
We recommend you do this in several places to allow for any slight size variation and note down the smallest measurements to the nearest millimetre.
If you prefer you can measure in inches, not forgetting fractions, and order that way. We will make your blind to fit into the recess perfectly. There is no need for you to make any adjustments, we’ll do that for you.
Decide how much you want to overlap the blind on all sides - we recommend this should be at least 50mm (2 inches) each side in most instances.
Carefully measure the width from E to F (see the diagram to your right) and the drop from G to H and note down the smallest measurements to the nearest millimetre. You can do this in inches too if you prefer.
We will then make your blind to your exact sizes.
If you are measuring an existing blind that's fine but don't get caught out with roller blinds. On a roller blind the measurements we use to make your blind are bracket to bracket and not the width of the fabric, which is usually about 35mm shorter. Measuring from bracket to bracket will ensure your roller blind is the perfect size.
